I can't answer most of your questions, but I can say that, having used 
Angular 1 for a few small projects, and now using Angular 2 alpha 35 with 
TypeScript, that going with Angular 2 from the start, if you are able to, 
is definitely the right way to go, because most Angular 1 code has to be 
totally rewritten to move to Angular 2.

I'm also not sure how much of this has to do with TypeScript, but the 
general syntax of the TypeScript/JavaScript coding is now much nicer than 
before as well, resulting in cleaner code.
