Hi Steven,

Your not, I do get where you are coming from. Being a 'web' developer from
91 on, (that was yet another paradigm shift, started programming in the
late 70's) I have seen development becoming more easy and complex at the
same time. Things that where impossible only a decade ago, are now just a
few lines of code. While the pace seems high, if you are around long
enough, you will see that patterns go in and out of fashion, and come back
with a slight twist. Everything is constantly improving. Not as fast as it
seems tough. The real new inventions need time to settle into our mindsets.

I like to think of myself as full-stack. The last time I checked I seemed
very much alive :-D. The meaning of the word has changed a bit over time.
By now, it pretty much means, you are a versatile person, that will find
his way around in every layer of the stack, and has enough knowledge to
push forward an entire product. Both front and back end and all other stuff
that's needed to make apps work. It does however not mean that he knows
everything about everything anymore. That has become simply impossible. He
knows how to find the resources that are needed on each layer tough.

In our line of work, there is not too much time to consolidate, although on
a certain point you will start seeing the pace with different eyes. Also,
learn to pick the tools that suit you, and stick with those. Do not try to
go with everything that's new and shiny. A large part of it will fade
quickly. Some things stick around for a longer time. Do you realize angular
is over 5 years old? That's pretty mature. And I suspect version 2 will
stick around even longer, but again, no crystal boll...

Regards
Sander
