How do I get the browser to display HTML character codes in <select><option> elements? According to MDN, <option> should allow character codes, but my non-Latin characters do not display correctly: The source of the text is a language file which is parsed by the otherwise brilliant Angular Translate library: https://github.com/angular-translate/angular-translate
