I think the most concrete numbers we have come from EDHOC design where ietf-lake-reqs -- but apparently the added bytes didn't matter too much in message 1 (given that message 2 is the largest one in symmetrical scenarios). EDHOC already has a dedicated option that streamlines later messages (RFC9668), which (if need arises) could be extended to also enhance message 1.
