Not at all! (At least, for now...).
Anne's plugin is rather self-contained, and if some change to its R engine 
should happen, the functions interface will not be touched: this will ensure 
full compatibility between the "pure R" version and the QGis plugin.

Core area calculations and overlaps could be as well added to Anne's plugin 
interface, but both are rather time and CPU consuming, at least, I use to 
calculate overlaps on more than 20 animals at a time, and for that perhaps the 
best strategy is batch processing via an R script, and not an interactive 
session in QGIS.
