Libertarians, As you may know, Virginia is one of the few states to have major elections every year. Most states elect both state and federal officials in the same year. In Virginia, we handle the federal offices in even numbered years, and our state representatives (as well as most of the local ones) are elected in the odd numbered years. For a political party, this can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it is great that we don’t have a 2 year layoff between major elections. That helps keep people tuned in to what we’re doing. On the other hand, it creates a never ending need for candidates and a never ending stream of campaign work. As the Chairman of the LPVA’s Political Development Committee, part of my job is to find those candidates, and help them through the process of getting on the ballot and putting together an effective campaign. Of course, this takes more than just the work of committee members and volunteers, it takes money. Right now, we need to pay for candidate recruiting and training materials, so that we can get as many Libertarians on the ballot as possible in 2011. That’s why I’m asking you to make a donation of $250, $100, $50, or as much as you can, right now! Last year, we provided financial support to every Libertarian Congressional campaign in Virginia. This year, we hope to provide support to every campaign again. But before we can support our candidates, we’ve got to find them. In the coming weeks we’ll be contacting all Virginia Libertarians, asking people to step up and run for office this year. With the balance of power in the Virginia Senate expected to be up for grabs, many of these races are likely to receive significant media attention. We want Libertarians in as many races as possible, but we’ll be putting a special focus on finding candidates for Senate, so that we will be able to capitalize on the added attention that those races may get. If you want to see Libertarians make an impact this campaign season, please click here to make your most generous donation now! As I mentioned, we’ll begin actively recruiting candidates very soon. However, if you’re thinking about running, you don’t need to wait to hear from us. Just click here, fill out the form, and someone will get back to you promptly to help you start the process. If you’re on the fence about donating, please consider this; when you donate to the Political Development Committee, all of the proceeds of your donation go directly towards our efforts to recruit and support Libertarian candidates for elected office in Virginia. In other words, your donation makes a real, visible difference in the performance of Libertarians on election day, and throughout the campaign season. Thank you in advance for your support. With your help, we’ll be able to have Libertarians on the ballot all across our state. Sincerely, Matt Cholko Chairman, LPVA Political Development Committee [email protected] PS – We really are working hard to make 2011 a successful year for the LP, but we can’t do it without your support. So please, click here to donate $250, $100, $50, or whatever you can afford, right now!
