As part of its effort to determine on a more accurate basis the location of
"unserved" broadband areas, the FCC has established a limited challenge
process by which carriers, WISPs and others can review the National
Broadband Map. This information will be used by the FCC to allocate Connect
America Fund subsidies, and there is a very real risk that those funds could
be directed to areas that WISPs already serve.

To prevent this, WISPs will need to be diligent, timely and thorough in
reviewing the Map to see if their network coverage is accurately
represented, and defending claims that the Map overstates WISP coverage and
thus is entitled to government subsidies.

Comments must be filed with the FCC by January 9 and Reply Comments by
January 24, so it is important to begin reviewing the Map now and making
plans to report coverage discrepancies and, more importantly, successfully
respond to challenges put forth by would-be funding recipients.

Join WISPA's attorney Steve Coran and Brian Webster of Wireless Mapping on
an important one-hour webinar to help you understand the process and plan
your efforts.
