Visit our website: HTTP://WWW.STOPNATO.ORG.UK --------------------------------------------- [To date at least four Russian soldiers have been killed in Kosovo, each singled out because he was Russian and then murdered in cold blood. Reuters justifies these murders and shootings with an abbreviated version of the standard "Fellow Slavs/Orthodox Brethren" mantra of two years ago: Slav Orthodox. (Comparable to the "revenge killing" motif used to justify an eighty-year-old Serbian women having her throat slit in Pristina shortly after NATO and the KLA arrived, or young children sprayed with machine gun fire in a play lot.) The officially disarmed KLA in Kosovo seemed uncannily well-armed; so well-armed in fact that they can transport tens of thousands of weapons into Macedonia and Southern Serbia - and Northwest Greece by their own account - as needed. And not lacking in weapons with which to gun down Russian KFOR troops and assassinate several leading Albanian public figures - and their families - in the past week.] Reuters, September 05, 2001 Russians injured in Kosovo shooting PRISTINA, Yugoslavia - Two Russian peacekeepers have been shot and injured in the provincial Kosovo capital Pristina, a spokesman for the NATO-led peacekeeping force has said. The KFOR spokesman said four Kosovo Albanians were involved in the incident outside a Pristina nightclub and that one of them was also shot and wounded. A third Russian soldier at the scene was unhurt. The injured peacekeepers were taken to a Russian field hospital near Pristina and Russian military police were investigating the case, the spokesman told Reuters. Giving a different version, a statement by the Russian KFOR contingent later said only one Russian soldier was injured. It said the three soldiers were off duty, in civilian clothes and without weapons at the time of the incident, which it said took place in a bar. It said they had been provoked. Russian troops are part of the 43,000-strong KFOR multi-national peacekeeping force deployed in the province, which is populated mainly by ethnic Albanians who seek independence from Serbian-dominated federal Yugoslavia. Many Albanians resent Russian troops because of Moscows close Slav Orthodox bond with Serbia. In April, a Russian KFOR soldier was shot and killed in an attack near the Kosovo boundary with the rest of Serbia. Moscow blamed the killing on ethnic Albanian guerrillas. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email alerts & NEW webcam video instant messaging with Yahoo!
