AP. 24 January 2002. John Walker Lindh's Lawyer Outraged. SAN FRANCISCO -- John Walker Lindh's lead attorney Wednesday expressed outrage his client has been isolated since his arrest in Afghanistan and questioned whether Lindh's conversations with the FBI can be used as evidence. "I've not known a case where a person was clearly headed toward the criminal courts in the view of the government, and from almost the first day has been held incommunicado," James Brosnahan said Wednesday night by telephone from the Washington area. Brosnahan talked with The Associated Press before escorting Lindh's parents, Frank Lindh and Marilyn Walker, to the jail in Alexandria, Va., where their son is being held. But they were unable to meet with him. "He has been interrogated for 54 days, and has been denied not only the parents' communications -- never mind a visit -- but his lawyer," Brosnahan said. "We'll bring appropriate motions and that will be for the court" to decide. Brosnahan would not comment on specific elements of his defense strategy but another member of the four-man defense team, William Cummings, told ABC News he wants to get interviews Lindh gave the FBI thrown out, because no lawyer was present and Lindh -- who was wounded -- was in no physical condition to understand what was happening. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
