"Murderer Sharon, Murderer Bush", "The People of Palestine are not Alone" slogans were chanted with great anger and an end to all economic, military and political relations between Turkey-Israel was the common demand. The Party of Labour (EMEP) also participated massively to the demonstration organized by Air Workers Trade Union (Hava-Is), Transport Workers Union (TUMTIS), Confederation of Revolutionary Workers Unions (DISK), Food Workers Union (Gida-Is), Communication Workers Union No. 1 Branch (Haber-Is), Istanbul Branches of Municipality Workers Union (Belediye-Is), Road Workers Union Branches No. 1 and 2 (Yol-Is), Military Equipment Workers Union Istanbul Branch (Harb-Is), Petrol Workers Union Istanbul Branch (Petrol-Is), Textile Workers Union Bakirkoy Branch (TEKSIF), Glass Workers Union Topkapi Branch (Kristal-Is), Construction Workers Union Istanbul Branch (Cimse-Is), TUMTIS Istanbul Branch, Shop and Bureau Workers Union Branches No. 1, 2 and 4 (Tez Koop-Is), Food Workers Union Istanbul Branch, Istanbul Branches Platform of Confederation of Public Employees Union (KESK), General Workers Union Branches No. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 (Genel-Is) and Housing Workers Branch of General Workers' Union. Writers and intellectuals Sukran Kurdakul, Sennur Sezer, Adnan Ozyalciner, Gungor Gencay, administrators from Allied Associations of Architects and Engineers of Turkey and Levent Tuzel, the president of EMEP also supported and participated in the demonstration. Damn Israel! Gathering together at about a distance of 1 km from the Israeli Embassy in Istanbul, more than 3 thousand labourers marched to the front of the Embassy chanting such slogans as; "Murderer Sharon, Murderer Bush", "The People of Palestine are not Alone", "The Tank Modernization Tender should be Annulled", "Butcher Sharon", "Zionist Israel, Get Out of Palestine", "Turkey Don't Sleep, Claim Palestine", "Damn Imperialism", "Imperialism Will Drown in the Blood it has Shed", "US Lackey Sharon, Get Out of Palestine", "End to Occupation, Freedom to Palestine". It was noted that many of the vehicles on the roads also participated in the protest by their horns. Held under the siege of the police forces with their tanks throughout the march, the labourers protested this attitude of the police by chanting, "Barricades to Israel, Not to the Labourers". Carrying bills and placards with the following texts; "People of Turkey are Near Palestine, What About the Government?", "Damn Imperialism", "Victory will be Palestine's", "Long Live the Brotherhood of the People", "Solidarity with the People of Palestine", "Where are Human Rights?", "Murderer Sharon Get Out of Palestine", "The People of Palestine are not Alone", "Butcher Sharon Get Out of Palestine", "Labourers will Expel the IMF from Turkey, Israeli from Palestine", "Cancel All Agreements", "Stop the Relations With Imperialists", "Baby Killer Sharon" and "End the Occupation, Freedom to Palestine", the labourers continued their protests with slogans on reaching the Embassy. The Real Force is the US Reading the joint press release on behalf of the labourers and the trade unions Levent Dokuyucu, Branch Chair of Communication Workers Union Branch No. 1, stated that occupying the lands of Palestine, Israel is holding a genocide with no discrimination to children or women. Expressing the state of siege of the Palestinian leader Yaser Arafat, Dokuyucu said; "US President Bush is showing who the real force behind the massacre and the occupation is by saying, 'Israel has the right to defend itself'. Such a fitting situation to the September 11 concept of the imperialist bandit US." Expounding Sharon as the subcontractor and sniper of US imperialism in the region Dokuyucu also expressed that declarations to the tune of, "Elements obstructing the peaceful coexistence of nations and national rights will be prevented through globalization" is only a demagogy aimed at concealing the imperialist attacks. The Labourers are with the Palestinians Expressing that the labourers of Turkey are on the side of the Palestinians while those running the country are signing military agreements with the US and Israel to the disadvantage of the people of the Middle East, Dokuyucu continued with his speech: "The latest disastrous event is the signing of the agreement handing the tank modernization tender worth 1 quadrillion Turkish Liras to Israel during the same hours as Arafat's headquarters were being bombarded. This cannot have any other meaning besides complete support for war. Prime Minister Ecevit and Foreign Minister Ismail Cem's statements are nothing but hypocrisy." On the other hand, Dokuyucu addressed the trade unions and confederations thus: "Why this silence in the face of the massacre of the people of Palestine when there is a tendency of surpassing chauvenist reactionary forces league by league when it comes to the issues of Cyprus, the Aegean and the EU? Not only showing solidarity with the people of Palestine but is it firstly not the duty of the trade unions to struggle for the preservation of peace by opposing the regional plans of the imperialists?" All Agreements Should Be Annulled Levent Dokuyucu also demanded the annullment of all economical, political and military bi -and multi- lateral agreements signed with Israel as well as stating that Turkey should call back the Turkish Embassy of Israel and suspend all its diplomatic relations with Israel. Expressing the necessity for the people of Turkey to be in solidarity with the people of Palestine, Dokuyucu emphasized that the protests will not end with this demonostration but continue in work-places, factories and out in the squares. Levent Dokuyucu's words were often cut by the slogans and protests against Israel depicting the extreme anger of the labourers. Following the speech Levent Dokuyucu left a black wreath to the Israeli Embassy accompanied with the administrators of the trade unions, party and mass organizations who had participated in the demonstration.
