The courses, conducted at the Louisiana State Police Academy, were part of the cooperation programme and an initiative of the US embassy in Uzbekistan. O'Neill leaves Wednesday for an eight-day trip to Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Georgia, where he'll meet with government officials, business people and financial and economic experts. Treasury said it is O'Neill's first visit to the region. The treasury secretary ``will continue to build and deepen our relations with our allies in this region in the economic front on the war against terrorism,'' Treasury said in a statement. ``Economic development and strong democratic institutions are strong safeguards to prevent extremism from taking root.'' Although the countries are considered allies in the U.S. war on terrorism, O'Neill will be focused on an economic agenda, Treasury officials said.
