Brussels, Sept 16, IRNA (Iran)-- NATO Defense Ministers in their informal meeting in Warsaw, Poland, on 24-25 September are to discuss a wide range of issues that would include Iraq, Afghanistan and terrorism. A NATO official told reporters in Brussels Monday that the ministers of the 19-member western alliance might talk about possible NATO support to the ISAF-3 in Afghanistan. Turkey is currently responsible for the International Security and Assistance Forces (ISAF)-2 in Afghanistan. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the ministers might discuss planning, logistics and new forces generation in Afghanistan as one single country gets exhausted in supplying troops. He, however, clarified that the Warsaw meeting is informal and no decisions will be taken. The ministers will review the international situation that would include the fight against terrorism, the situation in the Balkans and Iraq. The official said that nobody expects that NATO would be the prime mover in the case of any military action against Iraq. "I do not know that Iraq will be discussed, but nobody rules out that the ministers would like to talk about it," he said. Another issue for discussion will be NATO-Russian defense and military cooperation. ------------------------------------------------------- http://www.irna.com/en/world/020916175439.ewo.shtml Denmark to send planes to support US operation in Afghanistan Brussels, Sept 16, IRNA (Iran)-- Denmark is stepping up its participation in the US-led military operations in Afghanistan.
