http://www.haaretzdaily.com [The Humanitarian West's preeminent military client state, Israel, whose complete political spectrum - excepting its Hadash, Communist, bloc in the Knesset - fell all over itself three and and a half year ago urging a full-fledged armed ground invasion of Yugoslavia on behalf of *Kosovar* Albanians, a plea echoed faithfully by its friends in both houses of the US Congress, seems to adopt a different tack when it comes to Ha'aretz itself. Are we to assume that the *precision-guided* missile launched from a US-provided attack attack helicopter was somehow equipped to differentiate between a Christian and a Muslim Palestinian child, a girl inclined toward support of Islamic Jihad and a boy who wasn't? The monstrous duplicity reeks to high heaven. The dead are the lucky ones - they don't have to put up any longer with the soul-deadening hypocrisy of imperialism.] Ha'aretz (Israel) October 7, 2002 Russia criticizes IDF raid as 'clearly disproportionate' By Associated Press Russia's Foreign Ministry Monday criticized Israel for its raid on a Palestinian neighborhood in the Gaza Strip, and offered sympathy to the families of the 12 victims and the more than 100 wounded. "Although Israel justified its conduct by the Palestinian shooting at a Jewish village in Gaza, the scale of the operation, in particular the use of tanks and aviation in a highly-populated region, was clearly disproportionate," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The attack on Khan Yunis, which happened early Monday, was the deadliest Israeli military strike in three months. In one incident, a helicopter fired a missile into a crowd, killing eight people. The Russian Foreign Ministry said it presented its "deepest condolences to the families of the dead Palestinians and sympathy to the wounded."Russia reaffirmed that it abhors violence in all forms against Israelis, but added that it is equally "impossible to justify massive military operations which lead to deaths among peaceful residents." The Foreign Ministry again urged both sides to refrain from activities that further destabilize the situation. It said that the only way out of the crisis was to resolve the question of security for both sides through dialogue and steps that allow the Palestinians to ensure order in their territory, including the effective fight against extremism. Russia is part of the Quartet of Middle East peacemakers, along with the United States, the European Union and the United Nations. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
