Polish Radio November 24, 2009 'Possible troop increase to Afghanistan' says NATO head NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen announced in Warsaw Monday evening that US President Barack Obama will decide soon whether or not to send additional troops to Afghanistan. Rasmussen, on an official visit to Warsaw where he met Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Foreign Affairs head Radoslaw Sikorski and National Defence Minister Bogdan Klich, spent the majority of the visit discussing Afghanistan. “The Secretary General said that, in the near future, we can expect the US President to announce a change in strategy and an eventual change in the number of troops in Afghanistan,” announced Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Piotr Paszkowski. This is Anders Fogh Rasmussen's first visit to Poland since he assumed office as the head of NATO on 1 August this year. The former Danish Prime Minister's visit is part of a cyclical tour to several member states, including France, Great Britain and Germany, aimed at preparing ahead of the 3-4 December meeting of NATO foreign ministers. =========================== Stop NATO http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stopnato Blog site: http://rickrozoff.wordpress.com/ To subscribe, send an e-mail to: [email protected] or [email protected] Daily digest option available. ==============================
