Don't worry, this will all get much simpler by the weekend and the
changes I am going to make will make it a lot easier for tools like
Eclipse and so on to call ANTLR without resorting to a command line and
so on.

So do you obsolete the a3 script?
  
It will be a different jar name and the a3 script is just a local development convenience of course.

What we need is someone take on the task of producing yum  and RPM packages and so on for all the distros. Then we can create an a3 command and rely on it. Some people have created such packages in the past and now Linux is full of old versions of ANTLR that are not quite together.
