Using ora8.c rev. 1.10 there are no errors reported and ora8.so and
ora8cass.so are created. I copied them to $NSHOME/bin.

Oracle is running and sqlplus works as expected.

I copied the lines for nsd.tcl from a version I am running successfully
under Solaris 7 with AOLserver 3.4.2 and Oracle 8.1.7 and made the
environment similar but on starting nsd there are no messages about the
driver loading,
i.e. nothing like the following appears in the Linux/4.0/9i log:
(OK log)
[-main-] Notice: nsmain: AOLserver/3.4.2 starting
...
[-main-] Notice: modload: loading '/opt/usr/local/aolserver3/bin/ora8.so'
[-main-] Notice: ora8 driver LobBufferSize = 16384
[-main-] Notice: ora8 driver PrefetchRows = 0
[-main-] Notice: ora8 driver PrefetchMemory = 0
[-main-] Notice: Loaded ArsDigita Oracle Driver version 2.6, built on
22:04:36/Aug 26 2002

Running nsd under gdb does not provide additional information.

If I try to run a test such as sysdate.tcl I get a message:
In sysdate.tcl the dbhandle get from main failed: invalid command name "ns_db"

Has there been a change in the way ns_sections "ns/db/drivers" and
ns_section "ns/db/pools" are specified under 4.0?
Are there different environment variables needed in Linux or for Oracle 9i?

What sort of a problem do I have here?

Many thanks,

Eric Lee
