I am having problems but can't (till now) be sure that AOLServer is the only reason.
I'll describe the long phenomena I was having the last 2 days (The Server
Configuration file is
attached).
4.0.8 seems to be stable with me now, I guess it was shutting down with me for other
(maybe
network) reasons.
But the resources problem is the same.
I am running OpenACS 5.1-dotLRN 2.0.3/Oracle 10g/R.H. 3/AolServer 4.0.8 (2 servers, DB
& Web) - No
nsopenssl, oracle dirver is 2.7
Running a heavy application; After 250 - 350 Member is logged in and using the
application, the
web-server becomes very slow... (Sometimes a page needs 1 minute to come out, and then
it either
comes out or cannot be displayed)
Database server is idle
Now, if I run a new instance of the server, on another port on the same web server, it
runs very
quick although the other original server is still out of serving.
Today I watched this special other port instance and found out that it served 50 users
smoothly
while the main instance (having 300 users) was dead.
So, Still There is some available resources on the web-server that the original
instance is not able
to use while a new instance is using.
I tried raising the database pools and their connections, raising maxconnections and
threads,
stacksize, all did no effect..
Here is a current snapshot of the top command (75 members online)
17:05:52 up 1:51, 2 users, load average: 0.37, 0.45, 0.52

Any Advice??

Samer, how is this going? At Sloan we have been thinking of upgrading
to AOLserver 4 but we are now holding off to hear what the resolution
of this turns out to be.
thanks,
janine
