But since the work is/will-be underway to make the adp's gzip savvy
I thought why not making the built-in ns_return also?



The plan that's emerging is to get something simple into ADP now and then factor out the basic conn-write code to better support ADP, fastpath (static files) and ns_return type stuff.  AOLserver is a bit behind the curve on this one so now there's some easy but somewhat extensive changes that are needed in the core conn handling to make this work in a clean, reusable way.  We want to avoid changing too much too quickly, thus the simple first step with ADP.
