I would be interested to know as well...as I am in a similar situation trying to decide. One thing that strophe js has on it that ape doesn't is the XMPP protocol is well known, used, and supported in many clients. Such things as standard support for presence etc. are all common place.
The only thing I hate about XMPP is....the XML. It's heavy and bloated. And the authentication mechanism for strophe takes 3 or 4 requests just to setup a session and log a user in. Anyone have any additional comments on this?
