Hi there, I m in process of replicating my Ape Client in Strophe. May be then I would be in position to offer more insight. I would request other members to add some insight into it. 2) The other advantage of jabber comes to my mind is cluster of server. You can have a fault tolerant setup. In addition, at one go you can connect to gtalk, facebook and other major vendors. You can deploy you application on facebook instantly. Further, the soft switches and VoIP can easily integrate with xmpp as of yet. Though same can still modified for json and Ape.
All said, I still see Ape gives great flexibility and is structured in more open fashion give a lot of room for growth. And it do have a little less step learning curve vis a via erlang. Cheers!
