Hello,
I am interested in working for your organization for GSOC. I would like
to ask a couple of questions before I formally apply. First, I have limited
programming experience as I have only taken an introduction class where we
learn java, and I am also learning python in my spare time. Will this be a
problem?
Second, I would like to make an English to Latin translator, but I am
not fluent in Latin yet. I am in Beginning Latin II at the moment, where I
am recieving an 'A', and I feel I have a firm grasp over the topics covered
so far and I am more than willing to learn anything I don't yet know that I
would need to complete this. Also, I think that making a new dictionary
will take more than the three months that the summer of code goes for.
Would this be possible?
Third. Because I have 2 small children, I can only put in 3-4 hours per
day and maybe 5 hours one day a week. That is only 22 - 29 hours per week.
It says on your Top tips for GSOC applications that you would like for your
students to work atleast 30 hours a week. I may be able to squeeze an extra
hour or two if both of my daughters take naps at the same time, but it's not
guaranteed so I won't count it in the total hours I could work. Will the 22
- 29 hours a week be enough?
