No, not at all. You must use the existing functionality of lttoolbox-java.

Please have a look at
http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Ideas_for_Google_Summer_of_Code/Apertium_on_your_mobile

Coding challenge

   1. Compile Lttoolbox-java <http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Lttoolbox-java> and
a language pair which only uses core Apertium blocks (i.e., no HFST or
   Contraint grammar)
   2. Have a look at CommandLineInterface.java and make your own main()
method that translates just your pair
   3. Make a small demo Android app for translation for that language pair
   4. Try to add the
Lttoolbox-java<http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Lttoolbox-java> code
to the project and investigate what problems there are
   5. Publish your work to
Subversion<http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Subversion> for
   further examination

So, you will compile and use
Lttoolbox-java<http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Lttoolbox-java>
for the core functionality.

The Android app you can do from scratch. If will just contain an EditText
for typing/pasting text, a Button to press to translate and a TextView to
show the result.

Yes, exactly like that.

If you think the text

is
unclear, please correct it and send a notice.
You are also very welcome to expand it with more details or ideas.
