I haven't been able to find reliable statistics about it. But I think that
it is not only a matter of how many jailbroken iOS users there are vs how
many Android (or Blackberry, or Windows Phone) users there are. I think
that the user profile of each of them is also relevant. And, after all, any
iOS user would be able to install Apertium, although they would first have
to jailbreak their device if they haven't done it yet (that is, every iOS
user is a potential user, although it is obvious that the need of jailbreak
can be a considerable obstacle to reach some of them). Look at these
numbers as an example of what I mean:

iOS (CYDIA) APPS:

-
iMAME4all<http://apt.thebigboss.org/onepackage.php?bundleid=com.seleuco.imame4all>(a
MAME port for iOS): 118.683 downloads
- SBSettings <http://apt.thebigboss.org/onepackage.php?bundleid=sbsettings>(a
very popular tweak to easily access some system settings): 10.340.637
downloads

ANDROID APPS:

-
MAME4droid<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seleuco.mame4all>(a
MAME port for Android by the same developer of iMAME4all): 100.000 -
500.000 downloads
-
AngryBirds<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rovio.angrybirds>(I
guess that the most popular mobile app ever): 50.000.000 - 100.000.000
downloads

I think that these numbers show that, although the amount of Android users
is evidently much bigger than the amount of iOS users with jailbreak, the
differences aren't so big for downloads. We can conclude that, for
instance, iMAME4all and MAME4droid (which basically are the same program)
probably have a relatively similar amount of users in both platforms (well,
MAME4droid will probably have about 3 times more users, but this clearly
shows that jailbroken iOS devices don't represent such a marginal market).
And SBSettings downloads and AngryBirds downloads aren't so far, specially
if we take into account that, even if they competed under the same
circumstances, a popular game like AngryBirds would still be more
interesting than a tweak like SBSettings for most of the people.

In any case, this is just my opinion (and, please, note that my opinion is
not that iOS should have a bigger priority than Android whatsoever, I just
defend that developing for iOS wouldn't be as useless as you said). I am a
newcomer here, so I am probably not the most indicated person to decide
whether it is interesting for Apertium to work on an iOS port or not...

I'd like Android embedability, Servlets and applet to get a higher

Exactly. And not only because I am working with iOS already, but also
because I really believe that it wouldn't be as useless as you think that
it would. In any case, I will accept what you decide that it is the most
interesting thing to work on.

So, apart from this, is my work plan OK for you? And, if so, should I show
you the whole proposal before submitting it through the GSoC website?
