Welcome!

I am mentoring this project. The idea you give below:

" When an input string differs from one stored in the translation memory by a few words, and these words are of the /same type /(nouns, verbs, etc.) which I use as the definition of "safety", then the stored translation can be patched with the direct translations of the differing words."

talks about words but if you check the additional information you will see that we plan to use stretches of contiguous words (containing as many common words as possible, that is "safety"). So check that additional information and let me know what you think / ask any questions. I can also give you additional information if you want to pursue this.

Check also the coding challenge. Solving it would make your proposal credible.

Cheers

    Greetings all

I am interested in working on the project "Command-line translation memory fuzzy-match repair".

About me
I'm a second year Computer Science student at IIIT Delhi, New Delhi India. I am interested in the fields of machine learning, artificial intelligence, theory of computer science and theoretical mathematics.

Relevant skill sets
I have taken two courses on algorithms(one in progress) and one on object oriented programming. I have some basic knowledge of machine learning from Andrew Ng's online course. I am not proficient in natural language processing, however I would like to pursue it tangential to my interest artificial intelligence.

Broad project idea
When an input string differs from one stored in the translation memory by a few words, and these words are of the /same type /(nouns, verbs, etc.) which I use as the definition of "safety", then the stored translation can be patched with the direct translations of the differing words.

Let me know if this is a useful and implementable project, and what additional knowledge I would require to realise this.

Thanks and regards

Shubhorup Biswas
