Huh, so on the Linux machine, when I did which -a vislcg3, I only got
/opt/local/bin/vislcg3

but on the Mac I actually got
/opt/local/bin/vislcg3
/usr/local/bin/vislcg3

When I checked for the versions on both, on Linux it was 0.9.9.10917
(0.9.9.10952 after I updated it, worked the same either way), while on the
Mac it was 0.9.7.5129.

And regardless of whether I tried installing or updating via either
macports or manually via svn, it kept insisting that vislcg3 didn't need to
be updated, although it obviously wasn't up to date.
So I replaced the file in /opt/... with the one in /usr/... and now it
claims to be at version 0.9.9.10952, same as the version on Linux.
Which is great, for sure, but after that I still got the same error while
making.

However, this gave me an idea, so I checked if I maybe also had cg-comp in
two places (opt & usr). Turns out I did. So I moved the one from usr to opt
and now everything works fine.

What will remain a mystery is how it came to be that I had the same stuff
in two places.

Oh well, thanks a bunch for the help, much appreciated!
