I tried it without a pro account: the tasks synced fine, and didn't change the project structure on my iphone, but I couldn't see a link to the parent project. Then, I upgraded to a pro account (7 day trial basis is free). Once I did that, projects synced as tasks with subtasks. Warning: this DID mess up my existing projects on the iphone, spreading them out flat. What I did was move the subtasks where they belonged on toodledo, and then I had to reset my todo information on my device using toodledo.
In conclusion: you can use toodledo w/o pro, or you can use toodledo w pro, but be prepared for some work when you switch between the two.
