Same here, just popped over to describe this exact issue.

I go to an existing item that's due tomorrow, tap the Due Date field
and see the calendar.  I tap on Friday's date, the slightly dimmed '1'
and the calendar scrolls down to show the month of May.  The 1 is
highlighted and the top of the view says "Friday, May 1, 2009".  I
click the "Edit Task" button to go back and the date's still set at
Wednesday, April 29, 2009.
