1. In terms of start dates / times - I just use the Due Date to set a
time when I know a task won't be done, but once it's overdue it's
highlighted in red and pretty obvious that I need to get it done.
That's my "makeshift" Start Date, and personally, I like it much more
than a Start Date functionality itself.

2. Why not use Tags / Context? You can have a list of multiple ToDo's
if you set a certain Tag / Context for it, the difference between
those being that you can only have one Context yet multiple Tags for
certain criteria.
