I too am having these "retrograde" sync issues you both describe, and I too am a refugee from Omnifocus. I agree that it was nice to sync Omnifocus from anywhere, and of course sync reliability is paramount. But I would point out that Omnifocus featured a *significantly* longer sync time -- often several minutes to do a single sync. Often my iPhone would go to sleep in mid-sync, since the transaction would take longer than 2 minutes -- and then upon awakening the iPhone, I'd have to start the sync all over again. Worse, initial Omnifocus syncing was not voluntary, so you'd have this frustrating wait *up front*. These parts of Omnifocus I emphatically do NOT miss. The few seconds for the Todo sync (and the colocation requirement) is more in line with my experience from the good ol' Palm syncing days (sigh).
