We're familiar with the alert stack on the now legacy Palm OS and would love
to see some solution like that on the iPhone for alerts.  Unfortunately at
this time there is nothing of the sort provided in the iPhone SDK.  Apple
still does not allow applications to run in the background and APNS (Apple
Push Notification service) is the mechanism provided to send alerts to the
device. The way APNS is designed is that the OS will only allow one alert at
any given time to be available for any specific application. So if two Todo
alerts are sent to the device at the same time, only the last alert will be
shown on the device.
