Duncan, Please make sure that all of your tasks are saved in your Remember the Milk online account, then perform a "Reset Synchronization Data" in Todo. To do this, go into:
Todo > Settings > Synchronization > Advanced > Reset Synchronization Data. Let us know if this clears up the problem you are running into.
