Unfortuantely I finally gave up and just deleted the tasks on the Todo App. When/if it occurs again, I will try that option. Through a series of testing, it became obvious that the task in question was not syncing back to RTM (not matter what I did to it, nothing changed). Deleting it on Todo didn't change the recurring task in RTM...
