I have similar sync problems as the ones mentioned above. I had created an item on toodledo and it synced and appeared on both my iphone and ipad. Later in the evening, I marked it as completed on my iphone. The next day when I synced my ipad todo app, the task item was still there. When I opened I my iphone todo app, the completed task reappeared as an open item. I was able to mark the item as completed on my iphone, sync the app and then when I performed a sync on my ipad a minute later the task finally deleted.
As it currently functions, it is not beneficial to run the app on both an ipad and an iphone.
