Hello Scott

We have seen this type of dieback several times in the last couple of decades
in New Brunswick and some of the varieties and rootstocks have been similar to
what has been described. The latest episode was in 2008-9 and it was primarily
Marshall Mac and Spur Mac on Mark that was damaged. The most distinguishing
feature is the leaf retention, where leaves were retained, branches were dead
and many times the entire tree. We had three rapid declines in temperatures
that fall.

Oct 20th (+10 dropping to -6C in 24 hrs)
Nov 24th (-2.5 dropping to -13C in 24 hrs)
Dec 9th (+6 dropping to -20C in 24 hrs)

If you send me your email address I can send some images of the damage that
occurred in 2008-9.

Does anyone have some good photos of the die back on different varieties that
was being discussed a while back?

Hi greetings to all

I don't know if every one is aware that dodine and captane fungicides
applied during bloom period have some affects on pollen germination,
and reduction in fruit set is observed. I ask someone who have
verified this or a have knwlodge of a paper discusssings this subject.
