I installed a no-slot-clock in my //c and it worked just fine.  There 
is one caveat though...  there is very little clearance inside the //c 
in the area of the prom -- you won't be able to get the case closed 
properly once the NSC is in place.  To get my case to close, I had to 
install a 12-inch pigtail bundle (basically a 28-lead extension cord) 
so I could nestle the NSC-and-prom assembly in a void next to the power 
supply.
