They never released a //GS specific version. The "Novation Communications Module" sounds like an Apple Cat II Modem. The single card version is 300 baud, but there was an optional second card that upped the ante to 1200 baud. All in all, it was probably the best modem ever released for the Apple II series, as it included various sound capabilities built into it. It was the most-loved modem in the hacking community, as even the standard 300 baud version, could do 1200 baud half duplex. Many programs were written that exploited this feature. There was also a BSR controller built into the modem card, so that with an expansion module, you could control the lights in your house. :-)

Do a google search for Cat-Fer and Cat-Send and you should see some of that stuff.

Sure it's for the GS? Sounds like the old Novation Apple-CAT. IIRC, you
MIGHT get 2400 baud out of the thing, but that's about it. (It was, if
it's the same thing, originally released for the Apple ][+ and later
updated somewhat for the later machines. I don't recall them releasing a
GS-specific version. Anyone else remember?)
