Hi, I'm a long-time reader/lurker here, but I've never posted before. My background is mostly "PC", but I'm a vintage computer fan with a variety of systems, (Apple, Atari, Commodore... in alphabetical order) so please don't hold the PC's against me -- I'm an equal opportunity offender ;-)
I've finally gotten my IIGS roughly to where I want it to be: Rom03 IIGS 3MB RAM 130MB Syquest removable drive 2x 5.25" Floppies 2x 3.5" Floppies Apple Rev "C" SCSI card with term power mod Running GS/OS 6 Sure, I'd love some more fancy stuff (Second Sight, TWGS, more RAM, etc... who wouldn't.), but this setup usually delivers pretty nicely. I was running this connected via appletalk to my IIsi running OS 7.5.5. In a quest for "bigger, better, faster" (and because I needed to move the IIGS to another spot where there's no room for the IIsi) I'm now connecting the IIGS to an Asante Ethertalk adapter and I have the IIsi set to use appletalk over ethernet. On the surface, this works pretty well, and I'm also able to connect to the appletalk server on my Intel EtherExpress/PRO100 printserver so I can use my HP Laserjet 5mp (the print server lies and claims it's a Laserwriter) But.... Every so often I get a message that "the server IIsi has disconnected unexpectedly" or something to that effect. I should point out that there's also a Win2k server with Services for Macintosh and appletalk routing enabled on this segment. I was hoping to be able to connect to it as well --no dice -- and I've already tried installing the patched appletalk control panel cdev on the IIGS. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
