The 166 processor will not work in the 133 model. This was a hot topic quite some time ago when G3 upgrades for the 1400 came out (mine was a 166 and is now a 333 G3).

64MB RAM limit also--bummer on such an otherwise upgradable machine.

You might solve your overheating issues by pulling the 166 and putting on some conductive paste or just making sure the contact is good.
