I think POKE 49162,0 works for that. Type the POKE 49162,0 and then type PR#3
It works on this end

He is talking about a 'string' that can be directly inserted into a basic program so that the program itself converts the screen to the 80 column mode. I can't remember the whole string...but its something like...
10 Col80=1 (Print "PR#3")
I'm sure that's not right... but its something along those lines.
Remember the old Applesoft required a line number. Beyond that, I'll have to go fishing a bit.
