Kritik an geplanten Bewerbungsverfahren für neue Top Level Domains
Mit Kritik an den Entwürfen für die Zulassungsverfahren für neue TLDs wird beim 
Treffen der ICANN diese Woche in Kairo nicht gespart. Zu teuer, zu langsam und 
noch zu vage in den Details – so lauten die zentralen Vorwürfe an den von der 
privaten Netzverwaltung vorgelegten Vorschlägen. ICANN-Präsident Paul Twomey 
hatte vorab schon betont, dass die Entwürfe nicht in Stein gemeißelt seien, es 
sei auch möglich, einen zweiten Entwurf fürs Zulassungsverfahren zu fertigen, 
bevor die endgültige Fassung angegangen werde. Dieser angekündigte 
Zwischenschritt wird aber in der Registry-Registrar-Branche als weitere 
Verzögerung kritisiert. ICANN-Vizepräsident Kurt Pritz räumte ein, dass der 
Start der Zulassung damit bis ins dritte Quartal 2009 verschoben werden könnte.

Le ministère de l'Economie a publié jeudi 30 octobre la synthèse de la 
consultation publique sur les noms de domaine français qui s'était tenue au 
printemps dernier. Une vingtaine de réponses a été envoyée au ministère. La 
publication de cette synthèse doit précéder un ou plusieurs appels à 
candidatures pour la fonction d'office central d'enregistrement des 11 noms de 
domaines français (.fr, .gf pour la Guyane Française, .gp pour la Guadeloupe,

Galicia logra su territorio en la Red
Las páginas web gallegas podrán cambiar el dominio .es por el .gal en 
septiembre de 2009. Según la asociación que trabaja para ello desde 2006, las 
webs de Galicia tendrán derecho a matricularse con las tres letras propias de 
su "comunidad sociocultural" en lugar de las del territorio concreto, como ya 
sucede en Cataluña, un año y medio después de lo previsto. Hace dos semanas, la 
ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) elaboró un borrador 
del documento que establece las bases para presentar las candidaturas. Con él, 
empieza la cuenta atrás para el .gal. El texto, íntegramente en inglés, estará 
sujeto a cambios hasta el 8 de diciembre. Luego se traducirá a las seis lenguas 
oficiales de la ONU (árabe, chino, español, francés, inglés y ruso) y 45 días 
después, se publicará el documento definitivo.

Habrá nuevos dominios en internet [El Universal]
La Corporación para la Asignación de Nombres y Números en Internet (ICANN, por 
sus siglas en inglés) aseguró que el procesos de culminación de los nuevos
