The other thing to consider would be a system like Elephant uses: they
automatically compile the needed helper dlls when not already present.

That's interesting, I didn't know my game had gotten that much attention. If
there are people testing it on Linux, I probably ought to just create a
distro for Linux. (I do half my development on Linux anyways, so it wouldn't
be hard to create a native build.)
