Yes, that was clear. Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Let me rephrase the question, though: do you happen to know whether the bug is already present in aptitude/0.6.8-1? Does anyone else know? > > My intention with was two-fold: > * Ensure the bugs were not marked affecting stable > * Ensure that if the bug is fixed in unstable that it will stay on the > "RC radar" till the package has migrated to testing. These are indeed good reasons for your "found" command. The rationale behind my question is instead the following doubt: what if I pin aptitude to version 0.6.8-1? Is it useful to avoid being hit by this bug or is it totally useless? The BTS version tracking currently sees this bug as found in aptitude/0.6.8.1-1 . Hence, as far as apt-listbugs can tell, the upgrade from aptitude/0.6.8-1 to aptitude/0.6.8.1-1 would introduce this bug into my testing boxes: for this reason, apt-listbugs offered me to pin aptitude to the currently installed version (0.6.8-1)... If we know that the bug is already present in version 0.6.8-1, then we should add that version to the list of "found" versions in the BTS, so that apt-listbugs knows that there's no point in preventing the 0.6.8-1 -> 0.6.8.1-1 upgrade (the bug is already present in the boxes having aptitude/0.6.8-1 installed). I hope this clarifies the reason why I am asking.
