Hi
I have already sort of explained these messages.
For some reason every time I clicked on left arrow (previous page
in A1.66 ) it kept sending a message (funny behaviour), then I exited
to get out of the loop.

Hi Tom
I believe that Microsoft deliberarely lets piracy loose in some markets
so that they keep using Microsoft products, so they keep a strangehold
of such markets. They could have easily implemented registration at the time
W98 started with automatic update through internet. If everybody here
had to pay U$ 250 or so for Windows, I am sure a lot of people would
go for Linux , DOS or something else. But if we are using Windows now
it seems reasonable to expect that we will keep using Windows in the
future.

I have never slowed down my Athlon.

At first I thought the problem might be the loooooooonnngggg URLs
So, I tried my "special" v1.64 (can do 400 character URLs)
No luck.
Next, I fired-up NS4
No problem.
A further diagnosis of the site shows......
The second page that we link to *is* accessed.
We are then redirected to that error page because we don't have the
"correct" browser.
It seems that M$-IIS/5.0 is doing a "browser check" and can be setup to
block-out "incorrect" browsers.

No....
It simply means that you can't run them both at the same time.
i.e..... you can't use setup an FTP server or an HTTP server and then
use your browser to access that server.
However,
You *can* exit your Browser without disconnecting from the net and then
fire-up the FTP or HTTP server.
IMO, This is not a "draw-back" because I am unaware of any Dos FTP or
HTTP servers which will remain active when shelled out.
I am also unaware of any which can be run in a multitasking setup.
If you *need* 2 or more apps using the same internet connection
at the same time.... you might want to consider installing Linux.

Not a bad idea.
Except for the fact that this would also require two ISPs. :((
AFAIK,
We can't dial-up and login to 2 simultanious session on the same ISP.
BRB,
I stand corrected.
On CisNet it *can* be done.
I hooked-up the 486 to my second telephone line.
The HTTP server is currently connected to Cisnet.com using
IP address 207.17.248.156
This P150 is connected using IP address 207.17.248.110
Here's what I was able to get with Arachne.

Now a little tid-bit for every one to digest. ;-)
How many here already knew that a variation in spelling of "google"....
"googol" is the name of a number?
(such as hunderd, thousand, million, etc....... googol)
One googol is a one followed by 100 zeros.
1 x 10^100
("correct" name... "Ten duotrigintillion" )
I prefer "googol". :)
In addition:
How many knew that the highest number with a name is "googolplex"
Which is: one googol times one googol.
1 x 10^googol
(a one followed by a googol of zeros)
A googolplex is so large..... It exceedes the number of nutreons
which could fit (jam-packed side by side), into the known universe.
(or a trillion universes just like it)
I found all of this fantastic information in:

Shentel.net says this can be done on their ISP also. In an email from
their tech support team to all subscribers they warned that subscribers
will be billed an additional charge for each incident of simultaneous
access under the same account. Maybe CisNet has a similar policy
concerning simultaneous access. So don't be surprised if you see extra
charges on your next bill.
If ISPs would let their subscribers get away with this kind of thing then
they would lose a lot of money because people would simply make agreements
among each other to share the same account instead of establishing their
own individual accounts. Only one person would receive the monthly bill
and the other parties to the sharing arrangement would each pay their
own portions to the person who has to pay the bill.

CisNet allows multiple connections with no additional
charge, as long as you don't exceed your 43,000 minutes
a month. That way, junior can log in at a friend's house
while Dad's logged in on the laptop, and Mom's logged in
at home.
Anyway, that was the case during my brief membership

Were it not so, then the ISP would be serving neither their own interests
nor those of their customers by excluding an OS. The only way an ISP can
make more money by excluding an OS would be through whatever gain there
might be in accepting payoffs from some gangsters engaged in criminal
methods of competition. If it is true that Mindspring and Earthlink are
engaged in such suspicious activities as excluding access for an OS, then
the appropriate federal authorities ought to initiate an investigation
into the matter.
Sam Heywood
P.S. BTW, here is another point:
If an ISP were to exclude DOS users from accessing the internet the ISP
might be found guilty of discriminating against the handicapped. As most
of us know, many sight-impaired persons have a most understandable
preference for DOS browsers such as Net-Tamer and Bobcat/Lynx because these
programs are so very easy to use with their screen readers.
There is a law known as The Americans with Disabilities Act which requires
businesses to accomodate handicapped persons by providing convenient
parking spots, wheelchair access ramps, special hand-rails, Braille
characters on elevator buttons, and a host of other things for the
convenience of the the handicapped. In the wording of the law there is
probably a "catch all" phrase that would cover any reasonable
considerations not specifically enumerated therein. If this is the case,
then we could infer that it might be a violation of law for an ISP to deny
access to DOS users.

If you don't use TAPCIS for e-mail, I would strongly suggest that you do
(GO TAPCIS). First of all, it saves the e-mail as text files, not as
proprietary format files that DOSCIM does, and secondly, it can do a lot
more, a lot easier than DOSCIM. For the very rare times that I now access
Compuserve Fora, I use DOSCIM, except for those few areas that are still
accessable to TEXT based comm programs.
