Hi Joerg,

I just went to the archive site with Arachne and did not run into any js
problems.

I found it interesting that when "software" is clicked, it brings up
"multimedia" CDROMs, but no other software.

I have a ZIP archive of WS7 if you'd like it - it's about 3.8 Mb. I also
have WordPerfect 5.1 (3.4 Mb) and MS Word for DOS 5.5 (probably still on
the MS web site but I have it as well). Let me know if you want any of them.

Dear Friend,

Please do not be surprised to receive this mail from
someone
relatively unknown to you. I want you to know that
this is no
joke or a Spam generated message.

I am DR.PAUL ANDERSON,EDOJA Area Manager FIRST BANK NIGERIA PLC
,Lagos Nigeria. I have urgent and very
confidentialbusiness
proposition for you. On June 6, 1997, a Foreign Oil
consultant/contractor with the Nigerian National
Petroleum
Corporation, Mr. Barry Kelly made a numbered time
(Fixed)
Deposit for
twelve calendar months, valued at US$26,500,000.00,
(Twenty-six
Million, five hundred thousand Dollars) inmy branch.
Upon
maturity, I
sent a routine notification to his forwarding
address but got no
reply. After a month, I sent a reminder and finally
I discovered
from
his contract employers, the Shell Petroleum
Development Company.
(S P D .C) that Mr. Barry Kelly died from an automobile
accident. On
further investigation, I found out that he died
without making a
WILL,
and all attempts to trace his next of kin was
fruitless. I
therefore
made further investigation and discovered that Mr.
Barry Kelly
did not>declare any kin or relations in all his official
documents,
including
his Bank Deposit paperwork in my Bank. This sum of
US$26,500,000.00
has carefully been moved out of my bank to a
security company for
safe-keeping. No one will ever come forward to claim
it.According to
Nigerian Law,at the expiration of 5 (five) years,
the money will
revert to the ownership of the Nigerian Government
if nobody
applies
to claim thefund. Consequently, my proposal is that
I will like
you as
an Foreigner to stand in as the owner of the money I
deposited
it in a
security company in two trunk boxes though the
security company
does
not know the contents of the boxes as I tagged them
to be
photographic
materials for export.I am writing you because I as a
public
servant
can not operate a foreign account or have an account
that is
more than
$100,000,I want to present you as the owner of the
boxes in the
security company so you can be able to claim them
with the help
of an
attorney. All these are to make sure that the fruits
of this old
man's
labor will not get into the hands of some corrupt
government
officials. This is simple. I will like you to
provide
immediately your
full names and address so that the Attorney will
prepare the
necessary
documents which will put you in place as the owner
of the boxes.

The money will be moved out for us to share in the
ratio of 60% for me and 40% for you. There is no
risk
at all as all the paperwork for this
transaction will be done by the Attorney and this
will
guarantees the successful execution of
thistransaction.
If you are interested, please reply immediately via
my
email address. Upon your response, I shall then
provide you with more details and relevant documents
that will help you understand the transaction.
Please observe utmost confidentiality, and rest
assured that this transaction would be most
profitable
for both of us because I shall require your
assistance
to invest my share in your country.(Buying
ofproperties like
houses,hotels etc)

Awaiting your urgent reply via my
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
AND feel free
to call me on +234-1-7763205

Thanks and regards.

DR.PAUL ANDERSON,EDOJA.

These scammers probably responded to an advertisement in the newspaper
... something like, "Make millions of dollars without ever leaving your
home - less than one hour per day required".

A friend was just approached by a "university student" who needed 3,000
USD to pay tuition or risk being deported. I told him that there are
special people to assist in such cases - they're called the police.

I guess it works enough to make money. Sort of a backward proof for
evolutionary biology. If it wasn't reproductively successful, it would
become extinct. (Oh, oh, here we go again).

Subject: Attn: Glenn - What's the status of arachne_ue ?

Hi Glenn,

I haven't received any digests lately
and Yahoo! doesn't seem to recognize
the existence of arachne_ue. Was the
list cancelled?

Also, haven't seen any postings from
you here on the arachne list lately and
there doesn't seem to be much discussion
of arachne itself. Is Michael going to
ok an official release?

Thanks,

Binky
