AFAIK, The _prpoer_ version of himem.sys would be included with each OS.
(it's part of the "package").

Each version of DRDOS that I've used (as well as each version of MSDOS),
came with it's own version of _all_ utilities.
himem, emm386, diskcopy, setver. The list goes on-and-on.

 IMHO, use the one that came with the version of DOS you are booting.
(unless of coarse, you have _proof_ that some other version works better)

Heck...we would never consider using doom.exe v1.6 with doom.wad v1.9<g>

 But then, I never use himem.sys anyway.
QEMM works _much_ better. And it provides both EMS and XMS with a
smaller "footprint" than either hemem or emm386.<vbg>
