FYI,

Here in USA copyrights run for life of individual or 75 years, whichever
is longer.  So any software written to run on PCs of any sort is still
copyrighted at this time.  A copyright notice is not required, nor is
filing required within US to hold copyright.

However, some stuff has been released for free use of public ...  

Make certain you cross your t's and dot your i's in private whenever 
possible. :>
