I can now confirm that the strange problem Arachne 1.6b1 has with egghead is
NOT limited to VGA - it also occurs in EGA.
Check out www.egghead.com with 1.6b1. A few seconds after the page starts to
load, Arachne appears to switch to fullscreen mode. No title or URL bar, and
no TCP/IP time display. The status bar remains.
This page presents NO problem to Arachne 1.50b2.
Also, while testing at this site from my home, since my mouse driver refused
to load because it couldn't find a mouse, I had to view the page source (F6)
to find the URL for "Computer Products".
When I hit ESC to leave that source display, Arachne went back to the PREVIOUS
URL (Yahoo) - not to the egghead page I was viewing. This can be especially
annoying because to return to that egghead page (if it was REALLY necessary)
would take more than a minute JUST TO RENDER !! Home computer is a 20Mhz '386 !
On the same point as the above, when you altH to hangup, Arachne, for no useful
reason, RELOADS the current page from cache. On the Computer Products page this
takes 3 minutes and 11 seconds !!! On my home computer. :-((
This last problem may not be new, but it sure makes the veins stand out on my
forehead. <G>
