I don't understand that question ...
It speeds up the access to the HDD.
If you don't use a cache, than HDD Access time is independant of tha amount
of RAM you have. (eg the same HDD has the same speed on a computer with 512 KB
of RAM and 4 GB of RAM)
If you use a cache, than a part of memory is used to buffer disk data.
(this speeds up access, but takes away some memory from the applications.)
So for 8 MB of RAM I suggest 1-2 MB cache
4 MB RAM 0.5-1 MB cache
8+ MB RAM 4-6 MB
