I agree with the above. Let's see if the master will change his mind.
Re: Your problem. I can only suggest that you put the VESA driver in your
autoexec if you used vesa when it worked, or run setup and select another
video mode.
p.s. I have found that altX will get you out of the video setup if you
are at the graphical selection screen, but if you are in a loop where it
does not recognize your video mode you are stuck ! Try cntrl+alt+delete.
