Well You probably don't want to hear this, but setting up one linux
box as the 'server' would be the best way to go. That way you can
have as many boxes hanging off that line as you want, without having
to pay more money for more licenses. You can have any computer/OS
that supports TCP/IP on the lan. It is also the easiest way to get
DOS online. (through the LAN)

You should be able to get linux to use the DSL connection. It's just
like a regular network connection isn't it? That could be eth0 and
have a second nic as eth1 and use IP_Masq. I use my linux box to dial
up my ISP [ppp0] and my entire LAN can use the internet almost as if
I had my own block of IPs connected directly [albeit slower because
of the modem]

You could even maybe acquire a 486-type of computer to sit in the
corner and do nothing else but this network stuff.

This is IMHO and only a suggestion.
